The Bench
I often drive to my daughter’s house, a forty-five minute drive. As I travel along, I usually just get lost in my thoughts going through the small towns and villages. As one often does when they travel the same road over and over. This particular sunny day, as I drove down the road, I saw this older gentleman sitting on a bench by the roadside. Driving by, I glanced over and noticed him wave and smile. I immediately smiled and waved back! As I continued on to my daughter’s house, I couldn’t stop thinking about that gentleman on the bench and how he must have warmed up many traveler’s that morning, simply with a wave and a smile. I smiled more inside than out, just thinking about it. Now, when I make that drive, as I pass by that particular bench, I look for him. I think of the last time I saw him there and smile again. If I ever see him on the bench again, I’m going to stop and say thank you! KJ @ KJ-isms
